Size and Breaking Drive Chain

The chain is stock Diamond 530 right out of the box. It was one of the great mistakes when putting my double together. When I first build the bottom section I used a 102 link chain cut to fit, when ready to run I had to use a 101 link chain to get the right adjustment, that chain has a half link in it. that is what use to break. I never knew how many runs I got on that chain because I put a new one on every time I was ready for the final day, it made it more often than it broke, but it did break accasionlly, always in the finals, cost me some races. I even had one break right out of the box. I quit breaking them when I put an outboard bearing mount on the rear motor sprocket.
