Sonny testing his bike for Bonneville
Yes, Sonny was killed on the street in front of his shop, he was test riding a bike to go to Bonneville with, it was at night and the street has no lights on it. There was a car down the street with a couple of kids making out, they had just got done with there duty and was turning around in the middle of street with there lights off, Sonny ran into the middle of the car at over hundred, killed him instantly. I sure hope that was a good piece of A__ because it did away with a great young man.

My Name at the time I KNEW SONNY , WAS SALLY (Tritt)Swanson..One of the last engine re-builts WAS MY 1949 PANHEAD , by SONNY..! I had known Sonny in the earlier yrs. of when he and Wife (Pat ?) had /were separating..He (Sonny) would come into ''BEEP's'' resturant across from the VAN NUYS Harley Dealer to catch a bite to eat. I also KNEW 1 of His BEST BUDDIES He Had served w/ in Nam..(can't remember his name though ? ) We all had gone to Disneyland (1968-69 )THOSE WERE SOME FUN AND WONDERFUL times ..Was totally blown away when I had heard of Sonny's passing... ( Our motor was still at Sonny's shop ,just down from where the Horrible accident had happened... I STILL MISS SONNY AFTER ALL THE YR.S THAT HAVE PASSED...HE WAS A GOOD HUMAN BEING.....R.I.P.
