In 1956 or 57 I raced the original "Double Trouble" twin engine Triumph at the very old Colton Drags and won. It was with my first Knuckle head engine race bike. That night we made 10 runs over 130 MPH, fastest being 138 MPH, best ET in the high ten’s. At that time I raced under the name of Smith and Johnson. It was so far back that we had to fire the bike on Gas, shut it off and cover the engine with a blanket to keep it hot to change the jets or it would not fire on fuel. That’s before 1960.
