2006 Reunion

Here is a picture of something I'm very proud of receiving, I had a great time getting it, I would have never been able to make the trip to Bowling Green to receive it without the help of a good friend and the NHRA.

I received an email from a Irwindale Raceway Fan "Auntie Ivy" which I thought would fit right in with it.

Family Racing

Beech Bend, 1976
I love all you guys that come up with such great memories for me. Pictures like this brings tears to my eyes, that picture of my daughter was use a lot. A lot of people didn’t know, when I was doing the Exhibition runs at the Nationals she sometimes worked the tower for the NHRA and when I was ready to run you could see her running down the steps from the tower to the bleach box to be part of the crew. My wife Pat, passed away two years ago this July, Bless her. My wife was such a good fuel mixer sometime guys would come to my pit to get their plugs looked at and for her to mix them a two gallon can of fuel. We were a great racing team.

Stories and Stories

Glad you injoy the stories, I got a couple more, one is kind of a knock on one of the old racers. I had and have a lot of respect for this person and I don't want to step on his toes, I think he would understand. It was part of the history to my drag racing and at the time it was damaging to this person in a funny sort of way. I seen him at Bowling Green at the last Reunion, I mention it to him and he didn't remember it. The other, I don't quite have finished. The more things I'm asked the more I write and post.

Yes, I remember the 9 second fuelers too, I was one of them. I believe the first santion NHRA all bike meet was at Irwindale Raceway, Ca. 1970, a lot of the guys from the east came out to the race, I was in my prime at this race, I had number one qualifier and won the event.
